A great logo is more than images and words, a great logo tells a lot about you and is a big part of your brand. But, not everyone have millions to invest in their logos, so here are some basic steps to help you design your own logo.
1. Identify What Your Brand is
A logo represents your brand, so always think of a fresh and creative concept. Focus on your message and find a way to communicate it rightly. Make sure the concept gives good vibes to create buzz among your audiences.
2. Who is Your Target
Its important to be clear who your target market is and start from there. Customize the look of your logo in order to appeal to those who will be using your services. For example, a logo for law firm should incorporate a professional and simple color scheme to integrate the integrity and strength.
3. Keep it Simple
95% of the world’s top brand logos use one or two colors, so you better stick to that. It may be tempting to try to convey a multimedia message with your design, but too much will sabotage the success of your logo – Simplicity always save you money in the long run.
4. B&W first, then Color
look at the previous image of Chanel original logo and compare to this. Both have the same impacts regardless its color scheme.
Back in the day before we live in digital world where color is not always an option, logo have to be seen in Black & White. Having said that, it’s still a good idea to make sure that your logo work in black and white. Why? Because your logo won’t be color dependent and it won’t lose the impact.
5. When in Doubt, Helvetica!
What do American Apparel, Fendi and NARS all have in common? The font. Helvetica is the world’s most used font for logos. Even if you aren’t buying a good version of Helvetica font, it still enable you to have a simple, professional looking logo.
